Sometimes at the age when menstruation starts, a small girl may complain of severe lower abdominal pain. This pain may be cyclic like coming every month. Sometimes, the vaginal opening may be closed in such girls, so the menstrual blood collects within the vagina and causes severe pain and difficulty in passing motion and urine. Recently, we operated on such a girl with immediate relief.
The closed space has to be opened by opening hymen and at the same time, proper hymen should be constructed. Under anesthesia, it is a safe procedure and provides immediate relief from pain. The girl starts menstruating. Also, it is beneficial for her married life.
